OnePlus is probably the best smartphone maker when it comes to the budget flagship devices, and the fans were waiting for quite a while for their next flagship which has finally arrived. After the success of OnePlus 3t, which was launched in December 2016, fans were hoping of everything that the latest expensive flagships have, right from Snapdragon 835 to a great camera in OnePlus 5.
The early teaser of the back of the phone and the dual camera setup didn't decrease the hype, in fact, gave its promotion a whole new level. The iPhone-like dual camera setup at the back was hated at first but the fans kept the hope of seeing a great budget-flagship alive.
Keeping everything aside, here is everything you want to know about the most hyped budget flagship 'OnePlus 5'.
The fact that the phone is not bezel-less is a turn down for many people, for me too it was an expected thing because a beautiful phone is always welcomed. The phone has no major upgrades in the display department while coming with a 5.5-inch full-HD display.
Well, we all knew this was coming, though almost every tech website claimed a different camera lens inside for this flagship, the official unit has a 16-megapixel lens with a 20-megapixel telephoto lens at the back.
At the front, we get the 16-megapixel sensor.
OnePlus also showed the 'Smart Capture' technology which helps in taking better images with OnePlus 5. The phone will automatically de-noise the image if the image has a lot of noise, the Smart Capture will also help in taking the zoomed shots which are nothing but a cropped zoomed part of a layer.
The rear lens specs an Aperture of f/1.7 which allows more light to fill in and will help in low light shoots too.
I will not say this is the best-looking smartphone ever because it simply isn't and the fact that OnePlus has always kept their focus on internal hardware made them a company which is not known for the build and looks but the hardware and software. But when I say it isn't the best-looking smartphone doesn't mean it is bad, yes, the phone doesn't stand any chance when compared to Samsung S8, or even Mi Mix, it is not ugly by any chance. The phone looks cool but how it feels in hand will be a matter of debate after a few days.
The phone is slim at 7.25mm and will be available in two variants- Midnight Black and Slate Grey.
Cool isn't it?
OnePlus is always known for the kind of hardware they offer in a budget price range and this is what makes them great. With OnePlus 5 the story is no different, the phone has latest Snapdragon 835 processor with 8GB of RAM available.
The 8gigs of RAM is already huge, and we have seen how OnePlus devices run on the stock Android experience that not only helps in quick updates but also helps in maintaining fewer bloat wares.
Moving on Snapdragon 835, everyone knows that this is by far the best processor that Qualcomm offers. The processor runs on 10nm technology, this not only helps in efficiency but faster processing too.
OnePlus also showed off their dash charge technology comparing it directly with Samsung S8, the phone is amazingly fast when it comes to charging the device and the company so far claims that a half hour of charge can cover you for a day or so. The phone has 3300mAh of battery, which is decent.
The phone also has all the other basic features that the user expects from a flagship like- NFC, UFS Lane etc.
Well, we haven't discussed the price and availability yet, had we?
Soumya Mukherji from Bhubaneswar won a prize worth Rs 1cr in an event organised by OnePlus. He was just asked to guess the correct price of the phone's India launch which he guessed correctly.
The phone will be available excursively on Amazon.in from 27th June.
